Stucco Playhouses
Two-story playhouse and bakery for kids ages 2 to12 in Las Vegas, Nevada
Our Stucco Playhouses are part of the Turnberry Town Square Shopping Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In addition to the Roughhouse Treehouse and the Town Square Theater, Barbara also designed a set of Stucco Playhouses to simulate the old world European look of the surrounding buildings. Barbara's team began by building a classic wooden play structure, and then covered the exteriors in stucco. Spanish tiled roofs and rich, southwestern colors add to the visual appeal.
Unlike a school playground, commercial outdoor play structures like this one need to serve a wide range of ages so every family member has a memorable play experience. To accommodate this reality, Barbara created two different sets of playhouses.
Children aged 5 to 12 are thrilled to see our outdoor playhouses for big kids. The two-story Romeo & Juliet Playhouses stand side by side and are connected by an upper and lower breezeway bridge with faux stone facing and balcony. A metal staircase connects to the scroll work balcony on the second floor of the Juliet Playhouse. The Romeo Playhouse offers a different way down: a metal coil climber. Or, duck though the extraordinary faux stone fireplace and you’ll find yourself on the breezeway which is decked out with elegant double-arched windows and authentic-looking columns sure to spark any kid’s imagination. In fact, the overall effect is reminiscent of an adorable playhouse fort ready for fairy tale adventures or time travel to a different historical era.
The playground structure for preschoolers is a Bakery/Café playhouse where 2- to 5-year-olds can cook up a meal at the hand-crafted wooden kitchen, complete with refrigerator, stove, and bread box. On the other side, a faux cash register and painted wooden cakes round out the Café offerings. The charming, colorful cakes are irresistible to young baristas, so parents need to be ready to eat many slices of make-believe cake served by enthusiastic toddlers! In addition, the arched door and window mesh with the overall aesthetic, and act as entry points for serving pretend customers.
Behind the Stucco Playhouses, Turnberry landscapers created a maze made out of living shrubbery. Effortless collaboration with developers and landscapers is a hallmark of our business as we recognize that world-class play environments call for contributions from many different specialties.
Naturally, this structure meets ASTM F1487 Standards for Public Use Playground Equipment and the 2010 Americans with Disabilities Act.
