Pirate's Ship

The Pirate's Ship was designed and built for the Ritz Carlton Hotel in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The Pirate's Ship is a remarkable wooden play structure Barbara custom designed for the Ritz Carlton Hotel in West Palm Beach, Florida. Positioned by the ocean, this play structure complements the sparkling ocean view while providing endless adventure for young guests in the two- to five-year-old range. Unlike bland, cookie-cutter playground structures for preschoolers, Pirate’s Ship captures youngster’s attention immediately with its iconic nautical shape and enchanting colors. Upon closer inspection, families will find a charming play space to let their imaginations run free.

To board the ship, kids have a choice of a rope net ladder, ladder steps, or a climbing wall. Once aboard the main deck, children can ascend to the Captain's Quarters at the bow or explore the rear deck. The ship features three masts, with a faux crow's nest atop the center mast. The carved and applied trims, spindle railings, and hand-lashed rope net railing adds to the maritime feel, with various port holes to peep out of. The sails can even be manually furled or unfurled for variety.

A unique highlight of the Pirate's Ship is Barbara's masterfully hand-carved lion figurehead, which doubles as the Ritz Carlton's logo. Barbara designed the custom figurehead as a way to tie the structure into the hotel’s overall aesthetic and brand. On the other end, the ship's stern sports a hand-carved and stained "Providencia" sign and two meticulously crafted faux lanterns.

Like all of Barbara’s playground structures for preschoolers, this elegant ship both meets all safety standrds and is developmentally appropriate for the 2 to 5-year-old age range, ensuring a safe and engaging play experience.
