Play fort for kids ages 2 to 12 in Los Angeles, California
This wooden play structure serves families living at Missouri Place in Los Angeles.
This little gem in West Los Angeles holds a special place in our hearts because it was created for families in need of safe, stable, and supportive housing. The surrounding development, Missouri Place by Thomas Safran & Associates, is a 74-apartment complex with 40% affordable units and 60% permanent supportive apartments for formerly unhoused families. Once they are settled in a safe, stable, and supportive environment, kids naturally seek out chances to play and this small but mighty structure is ready to comply!
The best kids playhouse is one that invites connection, and this play space does just that as it beckons to children and provides opportunities for residents of all ages to connect with each other in a joyful and aesthetically pleasing outdoor area.
A curved slide and ship’s wheel stimulate the imagination while an ADA-compliant open landing invites players of all abilities to participate. On the other side, a rock climbing wall and hand-woven rope net ladder challenges kiddos’ strength and coordination. A colorful store front area invites them to a game of shopkeeper, complete with wooden groceries, a cash register, and pretend money slot.
As part of our commitment to sustainable playgrounds, all of our projects are made of sustainable redwood lumber coated with a protective layer of our signature non-toxic tung oil stain to maintain the play structure in any weather.
This structure meets ASTM F1487 Standards for Public Use Playground Equipment and the 2010 Americans with Disabilities Act.
