Glendale Gardens
Wood Fort for kids aged 5 to 12 in Glendale California
Glendale Gardens is a great example of how our standard Fort Jefferson can be modified to enhance any housing development.
When building an affordable housing community called Gardens on Garfield in Glendale, California, Thomas Safran and Associates tasked Barbara with creating this wooden play structure to emulate the look of the project’s architecture. The newly developed community features 30 units for families in a traditional “craftsman” style building. Our Fort Jefferson play structure was modified to echo the surrounding environment in its choice of colors.
Our all inclusive playgrounds are chock full of play options for kids yet still able to safely fit on a small patch of greenery so you can maximize every square foot of your housing development. Glendale Gardens is a wooden play structure that centers around a two-story tower connected to a curving slide, rope net ladder, and metal coil climb. The stairs come complete with an ADA-compliant Transfer Platform System. The ground-level ship’s wheel is hand carved and offers another accessible play option.
Because safety is our priority, the play structure was inspected by an independent third party, MaryLou Iverson of the Iverson Group, before it opened for kids to use. MaryLou’s review determined and certified that the play structure meets with all codes and guidelines.
This structure meets ASTM F1487 Standards for Public Use Playground Equipment and the 2010 Americans with Disabilities Act.
